After the Funeral
It is traditional for mourners to gather after the funeral in an informal atmosphere to share refreshments. To talk about the person who has died and share memories can bring great comfort. It can also give people who have not seen each other for a long time a chance to catch up with one another.
This gathering could be in your home, the home of someone else, the church hall, a hotel or restaurant. You may choose to use caterers or ask relatives and friends to help. We can help you with suitable locations and information about caterers.
You may prefer to use our facilities. We can offer catering options in conjunction with our chapel service.
If you are offering an open invitation to all mourners, then you could mention this at the end of the service. Alternatively, you could include the invitation, with the address of the venue, on the service leaflets so that people are sure that they are invited.
We are happy to provide assistance or advice as required.
Courtesy Call
We know that many families appreciate being contacted after the funeral. We consider it an important part of our role.
However we understand the balance between being supportive and not intruding on your privacy, which will always be respected.
We also recognise that the clergy support and help families come to terms with their loss. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to talk it through. We are always here to help and can also refer you to expert assistance from local counselling services and organisations who can help you or your family with grief counselling, legal matters or financial affairs.
The Death Certificate
We will arrange for all the necessary paperwork to be lodged with the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriage Office. We will also arrange for the Death Certificate to be sent directly to you. Usually this certificate takes two to four weeks. However, when a post mortem is involved it may take longer, up to eight weeks.
Funeral Payments
Since every funeral is designed to meet your chosen needs, the costs will vary depending on how simple or elaborate the funeral is. We will provide you with a written estimate for the total cost of the funeral in advance. You will always know what the funeral will cost with no hidden extras.
You will receive an itemised account after the funeral. However, you may be requested to pay third party costs in advance. We will discuss this with you. The account is sent approximately 7days after the funeral and is then due for payment within 30 days.
If you have advised us that the funeral account be sent directly to the solicitor, trustee or bank, we will send you a copy for your information.
If you would like to discuss with us the cost of a funeral or talk about the option of a prepaid funeral, please give us a call. You are under no obligation. Feel free to contact us at anytime.
