FAQ- Pre-arranging
Q. Can I take out a pre-paid funeral plan for someone else?
A. Yes, many people pre-pay a funeral on behalf of someone else, such as a parent. However, it is important that you have the authority of the person or of his/her legal guardian or power of attorney.
Q. What if I change my mind?
A. There is a thirty day cooling off period in which you can change your mind. However, after that period Government legislation does not allow the funds to be withdrawn and they are payable only upon death.
Q. Can Australian Heritage Funerals withdraw the money before I die?
A. No. The funeral monies always remain in your name and can be used only for funeral expenses. No one else can access the money prior to your death or withdraw the money without the death certificate.
Q. What will happen if I move?
A. If in the future you should move to another location where Australian Heritage Funerals cannot provide our service to your family, then your funeral fund monies will be credited to your estate following the presentation of the death certificate.
Q. What if I die while I am away from home?
A. If you were to pass away while travelling or visiting relatives, then your family should advise us immediately so that we can arrange the documentation and safe transfer. Some additional costs would be involved.
However, to protect yourself in these circumstances, you can choose to pay a once only lifetime premium for travelling insurance with the funeral fund which will pay the costs* of bringing the deceased back to their home for the funeral. *(Limits Apply)
Q. How do I pay for the funeral plan?
A. You can pay the money in one lump sum or a series of smaller amounts. Or you can arrange to have regular instalments deducted from your bank account by the bank debit system on a monthly or quarterly basis.
Q. Can I take out insurance?
A. Yes. We also have available funeral insurance at competitive rates for those people aged under 55 years.
Q. What documentation do I receive?
A. You will receive a membership certificate and documentation which should be kept in a safe place with your other important documents.
Q. Can I pre-purchase the cemetery costs?
A. Yes. You can pre-purchase the gravesite, interment costs and even the plaque at both Toowoomba cemeteries, The Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery and The Garden of Remembrance Cemetery. You are able to pay these costs through us and the paperwork will be forwarded to you. Many other cemeteries will allow you to reserve a gravesite only.
Q. Can I transfer an existing pre-paid funeral plan from another funeral home?
A. Yes. This is a simple matter to do if you have moved or are now unhappy with your previous arrangements. Please talk with us regarding this.
